The new 2014 Toyota Aygo will cost from £8,595 when it was officially unveiled in the UK on 1 July, and with a discount of £600 will bring it down to £7,995. Toyota Aygo is available as a five door hatchback. It will be launched in three trim levels: x, x-play and x-pression and special editions x-cite and x-clusiv trims.
LED daytime running lights, a 2-speaker audio system with AUX and USB connectivity, hill start assist technology, electric front windows and 14-inch wheels will be fitted as standard across the range. The entry-level x variants for Aygo also get wireless door locks, a seatbelt warning system, projector headlights with LED tracer light, as well as ABS and Vehicle Stability Control.
Front fog lights and a rear-view camera are equipped for added peace of mind, whilst stylistic improvements include part-leather sports-style seats, a chrome finish for the interior door handles and body colour-matched instrument panel. Customers will also enjoy the added benefits of DAB digital radio, and x-touch infotainment tech with MirrorLink in the top-spec x-pression.
Toyota Aygo x-cite and x-clusiv offer additional design features. In x-cite this comes in the form of 15-inch gloss black alloys with orange centre cap, a theme which carries through for the instrument panel and centre console, in this case with Orange Twist air vent surrounds.
Toyota is offering a choice of five paint schemes for the standard Aygo range: White Flash, Silver Splash, Electro Grey, Deep Blue Buzz and Red Pop. Meanwhile, both limited edition models will be offered in only one body colour, orange Twist for the x-cite and Bold Black for range-topping x-clusiv.
x-pression comes with a choice of two unique packs, with one equipping exterior chrome touches and the other automatic air con, dusk-sensing headlights, Smart Entry and push-button start. For all this choice, the only engine option is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, with either a five-speed manual or an x-shift automatic that’s available from x trim upwards. Although this unit sees the Aygo hit 0-62mph in 14.2 seconds, the same as the outgoing model; it cuts emissions by 4g/km to 95g/km and boosts economy by 3.3mpg to 69mpg.
