Toyota Auris was introduced in the United Kingdom on February 1, 2007. It was a reinstate to Toyota Corolla hatchback. Toyota placed the Auris at the lower medium sector in a try to win with cars such as Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra and the Ford Focus.

In the UK Toyota introduced three trims with T2, T3, and T Spirit tracked by a new trim T180 in April 2007. Other European trim levels were Terra, Strata, Luna, and Sol. The engine range consists of 1.4 petrol, new 1.6 petrol, and three diesel engines with 1.4 litres, 2.0 litres and 2.2 litres diesel.

Toyota Auris uses a range of Transmissions including five speed manual with the petrol engines and optional ‘Multimode’ automated clutch on 1.4 diesel engine which is mated with 5 speed manual transmission, and 2.0 and 2.2 litre diesels engines are exclusively mated with six speeds manual transmissions. All Auris engine line-up works on a chain-cam mechanism and standard air-conditioning is offered on all levels of trim. The 2.0 litre D-4D 130 T-Spirit offered at £16,495, but if you wish for a satellite navigation system then you have to pay a £1,500 extra for Toyota’s excellent satnav system.

The T-Spirit model has keyless entry with the help of a push button start, but the 2.0 chain cam diesel is unpredictably deafening. Engines with Toyota optimal drive system were introduced in 2008 and all diesel engines were exclusively equipped with Diesel Particulate Filters to control the emissions.

2007 version of 1.4 Litre D-4D diesel engines was capable of delivering better fuel economy with a 56mpg on an average urban cycle and the CO2 emissions were at 132G/Km however in 2009, 1.4 Litre D-4D engines were introduced with a refinement package to improve the performance. All new 1.4 Litre D-4D engines have an improved fuel economy of 60 miles per gallon and co2 emissions also enhanced and reduced by almost 8g/km with new stats of 124g/km.
